Wednesday (Day 7) was another great soaring day in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Alfonso Jurado (ASW-20) had the fastest flight so far and won the day with a handicapped speed of 64.60 mph (nearly 8 mph faster than the second place finisher). He is now in second overall with 6499 points. Ron Ridenour had a fast day as well in his Grob Twin Astir. He placed second for the day and is in 10th overall. Third place for the day went to Joe Owensby in his HP-18. He is still winning the contest with 6566 points. Tom Gilbert (Libelle 201B) landed out and fell from second to sixth place overall. Manfred Franke finished fourth today in his LS-3a and moved up the ranks to seventh place overall. Gene Hammond has been flying very consistently and moved into 3rd place overall (6209 points) by finishing 9th today.
