People in Malawi

Here are some pictures of people and their activities from Malawi.

The brick kiln were everywhere. People make their bricks right where they build their houses.

Bicycles are everywhere, it was the major mode of transportation. Motorcycles are very rare, apparently they are too expensive. Public transportation is mainly by minibuses.

Wood carving is big in Malawi. Wood carved objects were for sale everywhere.

You can see how the edges of the road break from heavy truck traffic. Sometimes the road was so narrow that we had to have the left wheel on the gravel, which of course further damages the road. (908k)
