World War I bunker in a field in the Gallipoli area. There were lots of these bunkers sitting in the middle of fields. (684k)
In 1915, the Allied Forces tried to capture the Dardanelles to get access to Eastern Europe. English, French, Australian, New Zealand and Indian troops landed near Gallipoli. After nine months of fighting, suffering 100,000 casualties, the Allied forces withdrew.
